You may have seen media reports over the past few days about Associate Professor Jeremy Austin and the Australian Centre for Ancient DNA team’s role in assisting SA Police on the case of the child whose remains were found near Wynarka last month.

For most researchers, solving murders and unlocking critical details in a missing persons case isn’t part of the job description. But when it comes to forensics, the University of Adelaide’s researchers are applying cutting-edge scientific techniques to preserve and examine evidence in connection with many high profile civil and criminal cases throughout the world. You can read more about some of their work on the ARI website.

It’s yet another example, from the many each week, of our researchers working behind the scenes and often in very challenging circumstances, to make a profound difference to our community.
